SCVAS provides education and bird conservation awareness that focuses on the health of riparian corridors, designated mitigation areas, historical breeding locations and suitable habitat areas. Because Google’s campuses in Silicon Valley provide important habitats for local species, SCVAS will work with Google to provide an in-depth survey of the various bird species native to the Mountain View Campus. Survey data will be used to used to create a bird “friendly” habitat campus guide with maps of locations for employees and community members to learn and observe local/migratory bird behavior. Monthly bird walks will also be offered to the public to provide education for bird species identification and a bird nesting box plan will be developed for the campus, in order to enhance habitat for native cavity nesting species.
