Project Description:
Pilot study to test the efficacy of using ecological scent-detection dogs to survey for phytophthora, a disease initiator that interrupts the healthy biological processes that are required for sustainable landscapes. The training of dogs to detect phytophthera will significantly increase the ability of native habitat restoration projects and native plant nurseries to efficiently detect this disease, or its absence. This will in turn result in more successful healthy native habitat restoration projects being implemented without delay or the excessive costs incurred.
